2tablespoonsliquid oilsuch as jojoba oil (you can also infuse the oil first with herbs like Yarrow or Calendula for added benefits)
20-25dropsblue chamomile essential oiloptional
Instructions
Melt the tallow in a double boiler (I just put a a Pyrex glass quart cup in a stockpot filled with simmering water).
Remove from heat and add the liquid oil, stir well.
Add essential oils, if using.
At this point, you can pour it directly into small glass containers, or else you can let the mixture cool for 1-2 hours (put in the fridge to chill faster) if you want to make whipped tallow balm, which has a smoother consistency and is easier to apply.
If you're making whipped tallow balm, use an electric mixer to whip it until it looks like frosting.
Spoon into small jars and enjoy!
Notes
If your tallow balm turns out too soft or creamy (more like a lotion than a balm), you can use less liquid oil or more tallow to thicken its consistency.
